I must say, the world is moving faster than you ever imagine. Thanks to the “internet”!
Photography business today are totally different from the past in my grandparents time. Back to 30 years ago, my grandpa investedĀ a medium format SLR camera – Mamiya RM67 for his business and it function as his main cam for the past 20 years. Can you imagine that? And the camera still works in tip-top condition until today as my toy
Do you think my 5D mark 2 can last for 10 years or maybe 5? Photography really making lots of money during those days, until the arrival of digital generation. Why? Digital evolve everyday, and demand increase every second. Not only pushing the limit of our creativity but our gears too.
I first started to be on my own, rebuilding the legacy, 2 years ago – In my bag, I have 2 x Canon 30D body, 580EX II, 17-40mm F4 L, 85mm F1.8 and a 50mm F1.8. Also a Sony PD170P for my video production. That’s all I have
I just trust the Lord that He will provide my needs. Amen!
Today, this is what in my gear bag…
Thanks to the technology – this camera allow me to take tremendous stills photographs as well as the stunning Full High Definition video footage. In other words, this is the perfect camera for me as I am doing both. Currently I am using a 5D mark 2 and a 7D body.
Lets talk about videography. The DSLR video maker surely face matters during the kick-off, if they moving from the video cam to these… stabilization, manual focusing, data file size, sound issues and etc. I like this camera it’s because of the impact of the depth-of-field to be in my video. I believed it tempted most videographers in the world. However, this “stallion” is not easy to handle. To me, I need to change my shooting style to suite its behavior. Nasty! I am not going to mention the technical part. You get most reviews and info about this camera all over the internet. Back to my shooting style, previously I used to cover an event alone, I run through basic editing and produce VCD and DVD. Very primitive. How I wish to create a wow factor footage and stunning composition with high depth of field. Of course, the industry have the capability to create my dreams, but it’s expensive and it’s not very appropriate for weddings, in-terms of the equipment size and the production flows. However, here we are. Compact size with cinematic quality. Today my style are no longer journalistic or documentary method of coverage but to make a story out from the event. To achieve a better results, a few gadgets I use during the production…
This is my favorite tool that I been using it for the past 6 months. The Glidecam 2000HD. It helps to create steady camera movement shots, like during running, on skateboards, and flying. It works greatly to tame the stabilization issues.
Another important tool – The Glidetrack. I do not own a crane or the track dolly. Why? Bacause there are huge . I love the fact that I can utilise the slider not only horizontally but it can also slide vertically. Its about 1 meter long and it’s very portable and handy during the event coverage. Size does matter!
There are more gears to share in the coming. So stay tune. Cheers!
